T.J. HAS FOUND PEACE

Suicide is a touchy and unspoken of subject, that’s a fact.

Why would anyone dare to write a poem about that?

Soldiers who suffer from P.T.S.D. yes they long to be free.

Saying my buddies they were killed. Why wasn’t it me?

Some hide their pain inside and on their MC’s they ride.

They raise monies for AIDS ORPHANS and ICROSS.

Through the wonderful work of each CAV Chapter Boss.

But, in 2003, in Afghanistan, young T.J. suffered a loss.

Cpl Beringfinger and Sgt Short in the Iltis they died.

T.J. was wounded, but by a miracle he had survived.

He carried his pain hidden deep in his heart.

It was too much to carry he just had to depart.

Let us join with his comrades and have good words to say.

About TJ and his family and his friends, as we pray.

Let us hope that other soldiers that suffer this way.

Are saved by the OSI system at the end of the day.

Get your pledge sheets on highwayofheroesSALUTERIDE.ca. Gather $50.00 in pledges and receive a free event t-shirt and lunch. You can also sign up at the start of each “Salute Ride” tour stop, for $30.00 to ride with us. Plus $20.00 for an event t-shirt and lunch (optional). There will be no extra charge for passengers.
Along the way we are asking the public to go to their local overpass or roadside all through the tour route and give our veterans a SALUTE or a wave as a sign of respect for our fallen soldiers in Afghanistan and of passed wars.
Please consider that our mission is to video tape every living veteran in Canada that is willing to tell their story, is very costly. Please go to any TD Canada Trust and tell the teller that you would like to make a donation to the Friends of Veterans Canada at Branch# 174 account # 5208224 or our Pay Pal account. We are a registered charity and will issue a tax receipt for any donation amount over $100.00. All of your money goes directly to our charities mission and together with our volunteers we will save our veterans memories for future generations.

General Meeting 19 Jun 2009

Last evening was the 3rd CAV YPres General Meeting. We had an excellent turn out from our members. During the meeting Klaus thank all who rode in the Ride for Dad and the URSA volunteers (job well done to all).

At that time Bruce (SAA) spoke about the upcoming ride to Toad Rock and give some of the final details on the departure time and the route.

Rob (Road Captain) presented the Winglet to 2 of our members and Klaus use the occation to present 2 of our members with their CAV Patch. (well done gentlements). A 50/50 draw was done and after we all gathered around for a quick social.

Breakfast in the Trenches-Bike entries from 3CAV

Congratulation to those who took parts in the "Breakfast in the Trenches - Show and Shine" bike show.

Fuzzy's custom bike won top award for the bikes.

Ride for Dad 6 Jun 2009

T and Al left Suffield on Friday with $1500 dollars in pledges that were raised by Ken Lockie, T and Al.

Due to the weather, the turnout was not what was expected but there were 5 CAV crests in the Parade, 2 from Ypres, 1 from Kosovo and 2 from Coriano Ridge. Although they had to postpone the Poker Run due to Ice and snow on the bridges in the foothills it was still a good day.

URSA Ride / Motorcycle Awareness Ride

Thanks to all for the support in making the URSA ride a great success, nothing but compliments on the professionalism and effort by all.
As a Reminder the Ride for Dad is coming up on the 6th June 2009.

CPL Mike Starker Memorial Poker Run

The Veterans of Canada MC hosted CPL Mike Starker Memorial Poker Run on Sunday 24th May 2009. This event was a Success and job well done by The Veterans of Canada MC.

Bruce Nickles (SSA of the YPres Unit) presented a plaque to VCMC and Cpl Starker's widow. This plaque was made by a member of the CAV.

3CAV YPres General Meeting

Today we had our first General Meeting of the year. There was a really good turn out of members and new members. Hodge was presented with his V.President badge and Rob was presented with the Road Captain badge. Michele a new member (supporter) received her colour at the meeting.

Today we had our Webmaster online meeting, everything went well beside my microphone and speakers were not working properly.
I've just finished uploading all of the 3rd CAV pictures to our new location.
